Hi All,
First off I am new here, so Hi again
I have a small problem getting Microsoft Outlook 2001 to use my 2003 Exchange server. I have to admit I am new to macs and am finding it a little hard to do anything but I am trying.
From what I can tell is that for some reason my the mac will not resolve the server name to an ip address. I mean when I look in the Outlook settings, under services --> properties if I place the servers IP address there and then the user name and then 'check the name' it resolves the name of the server and under lines the user name (which as far as I am concerned has worked).
Yet when I then launch Outlook I get a message saying folders could not be opened. The attempt to log on to the server failed..... Microdoft Outlook could not be started. The attempt to log on to the MS Exchange Server failed....................
What I have done so far:-
Updated the /etc/hosts file and added the ip address for the server (can ping both IP and name from the console and network util)
When in Outlook settings --> properties and user the server name instead of the IP address and try and check name I get an error.. The name could not be resolved. Network problems are preventing connection to the MS Exchange Server, Contact your system adminsitrator (me).
Sorry for the long post but this is a real problem. Any help would be much appreciated.
Ian
PS The only thing I can sort of think of at the moment is that Outlook starts I think in classic mode??? I am not sure if this starts a new shell and therefore ignores the /etc/hosts file and that is the reason why it can not resolve the server name. If I am right my next question would be where is the hosts file for the classic enviroment??

Agreed, and I think that Android devices finally grew up into a decent alternative many people got tired of waiting and are now under contract with something else. So the available market shrunk as more people got under contract.
Even though the iPhone4 is a great phone, the iPhone 5 is needed soon to energize things. Too many people realize that the iPhone4 is nearing the end of it's life cycle.
This is the issue with a yearly product cycle. People begin to understand when that cycle starts over, avoid new purchases of the product, and even tell their friends and family to not buy right now.

Frankly I'm skeptical. I owned a 1999 Altima GXE with a manual transmition. Great great car for what it was. I'd still be driving it if some drunken moron in a truck hadn't totaled it. Anyways, my Altima was equipped with a different engine (KA24DE 4-cylinder, 2.4L) but was about the same size as your engine. It weighed slightly less, about 250lbs or so. Under normal driving conditions I could manage 30-31mpg combined cycle. On the highway, if I kept the speed down, I could do 35mpg (my best numbers were from a 360 mile trip @60mph - 39.5mpg). I had a 15.9 gallon tank, which meant I could get just about 500 miles on a tank of gas (I was brave once and drove 492 miles on one tank before I chickened out).
I don't know which year Altima you have, but you have a 20 gallon fuel tank and depending on what year, your EPA mileage is between 20-23 city and 27-32 highway. I'll grant you the 32mpg number because my Altima did better than the EPA numbers. 32mpg will get you 320 miles on half a tank. Heck, I'll even give you my best 39.5mpg number - but that still only gets you 395 miles on half a tank. In order to go 500 miles on half a tank of gas, you'd have to be getting 50mpg. And I don't believe that. I don't know of a single gasoline-powered car that can go 1000 miles on one full tank.
Here's the deal. You need to understand how gas burning really works. You also are not at liberty to speak on what is or is not possible on that trip without actually having driven it - as I have.
Mountains separate Phoenix and San Diego. Additionally, there is a long stretch where one can set cruise control at 80MPH, barely pushing the RPMs because it's in the highest gear. The mountains result in frequent instances of just coasting down, and with the exception of certain inclines, your acceleration is done by gas spurts rather than constant depressing of the accelerator. Less actual acceleration, less gas burned for the distance. Lower RPMs, less gas needed to propel the car. Use the car's momentum to keep it moving at a high speed without constant acceleration. Once I hit Arizona and the speed cameras and cops kicked in full force, I was limited to 65 MPH. That of course naturally increased my mileage since it took even less to move the car.
What I'm saying to you is that if one knows how to drive a car properly on freeways, you can hit mileage that exceeds what the car would normally be able to accomplish quite easily. It's city driving that drops that number significantly. Too many people are so hell bent on the numbers. The numbers don't mean jack in the real world and I don't know how many times I need to tell people that. The web is replete with stories of non-hybrid Altimas pushing 450+ miles. The key is how you drive, not the capacity of the tank or the rated MPG. It's the people who are lead footed that don't see the full potential of the car.

I must admit that the sit-in version did give that in-the-X-Wing-cockpit feeling. My favorite sit-in, though, was Omega Race.
By the way, InuNacho, yes, the original sounds for Yar's Revenge left a lot to be desired. However, Yar's Revenge was IMHO the best original (i.e. not adapted from an arcade version) Atari 2600 sci-fi game in terms of gameplay.
...Debate, anyone?
Actually I was referring to the iPad version of the game not the 2600 classic.
Unfortunately I've only seen footage for two of the 2600 games, Yar's Revenge and Breakout and both of them sound like they have some emulation problems.
What someone should do is create some kind of DB-9 to 30 pin adaptor doohickey so that you can plug in old controllers and stuff into your Touch/Pad.

i know this would require different licensing deals but, assuming that most people will have similar collections of commercially available songs on their ipods, surely apple would not have to keep different instance of the same mater in each users imaginary allocated space.
just get apple to serve you music it knows that you own. admittedly this would stop working for totally individual content.
as a side note i have simply no idea if people actually get round to listening to the 10's of GB's of songs they have on their ipods! when your library total playtime is in years, you have too much music.

and if the girl isn't 18 yet, then it is rape
Not necessarily -- age of consent is often below 18; for example, it's 17 in Nebraska, so an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old getting it on is not statutory rape.
I am not a lawyer; this is not legal advice. No priveleged relationship exists between us.

I like it. The only thing I don't love is the Weather widget. However I do like the weather there. Try this widget I just modified.
Download it here: https://public.me.com/upaymeifixit
That's fantastic, thanks so much..
I had a slight issue but I like the weather there. Now it all looks great. :)

I wonder which new moderator is going to clean up the mess mymemmory just made in here...
A post likely to turn this into another mymemmory bashing thread -- and it's not even a thread about women or body parts. :(
That's probably true, but I can hardly delete it, then he'd report me for silencing my own critics  :p

Samsung is going to lose this big one.
They really cant defend their phones and look for a mutual agreement based on apple's trade dress/design claims.

I am not going to read through the whole thread, but here is my take:
Even though they might both be legal adults, that does not guarantee maturity of action. If you think your son might do something rash, like have sex w/o a condom, then don't let him go over there. His legal right to make the decision relatively unimportant, I wouldn't let any of my friends have sex w/o a condom and they are all 18+. Stop him from doing something rash because you love him. But if he has shown himself to be trustworthy and responsible, then by all means reward him by giving him some freedom.
My mother acted as though she trusted me, but she didn't give me any privileges, which was a source of great annoyance while in high school. My mother was way too protective of me. I never made a significantly bad decision the 4 years I was in high school. I never got drunk and wrecked the car, I never got in any fights, and I never tried to get out of my responsibilities. Yet, despite all of this, I still had a curfew, I still wasn't allowed to be on the computer after 12:00. Had I been given these privileges would I have abused them? Of course not... I'm smarter than that.
If your son has earned your trust, then show it by giving him privileges. His age is irrelevant.

As expected, FedEx delivered my shuffle this morning.
The pictures don't do it justice. The thing is really smaller than you think it is, even looking at the pictures. So far I'm rather pleased.
do you have any pics of your own??!?!?!

I for one am happy with my Verizon iPhone and didn't regret purchasing it with the knowledge that a newer iPhone would be out later this year. I tried the Incredible and didn't like it and my contract will be up in time for the iPhone 6 which i'm sure by that time will be guaranteed to have LTE.
