during installation a note popped up saying 'cant continue as needs 512Mb minimum'
How'd you get round it?
btw, whats the verdict on ram coolers? yes/no
I borrowed a faster Mac, and used that to install to its HDD, I think it mayve had more RAM, then dumped the HD in my trusty eMac and let it boot. It wouldnt boot on 64MB though... I tried that xD

I'm a web designer and I think that part of good web design is flexibility and compatibility; in other words, a good website design should be one that can be customized at the will of the user, such as resizing a text box that is too small.
Besides, have you seen this in action? (I got a 403 when I tried to view the blog - I don't know about you). Do we know that resizing a text box will rearrange any other elements of the site? Knowing Apple, they've probably come up with some way to resize the text box in a non-destructive manor, and maybe resize it back to it's original size when a user isn't using it. Does that make sense?
All these features sound like great additions to Safari - especially searching text in a web page; it's about bloody time Apple!

I kept working to be the meanest member but no one ever voted for me for that. :( ;)
We're afraid to. We don't want to anger you, for you are universally considered to be the meanest member. I am thankful that I live 1000 miles away. That thing you did with the puppies and the fireworks "just to see what would happen" still haunts me.

japan now selling external Bluray RW drive for.....$1000....
so, if MacPro have BTO option for this...
we got to pay around $5000 for the fastest Mac, right?
its terrible...
i hope apple will release a nice external drive...though, insofar the only external optical drive from apple can trace back to the age of CD-Rom...Even better, the blank media are only $50 each. How economical. I can buy one 25GB Blue-ray blank for $50 or two-hundred seventy eight 4.3 GB SL DVD-R blanks = 1194 GB of space or 1.2 Terrabytes for the same $50. Blu-ray wins hands down.
I love new technology. And spending tons more for it is the best.

It would simply indicate a failure of intelligence, and would invalidate any trial evidence. His death is meaningless anyway.
Who wants retribution? Your country has just destroyed two other nations and caused the deaths of in the region of a million people, including 4,000 US soldiers, and more or less bankrupted itself, all for what, 3,000 dead, in a search for one man? Is that retribution, or is it lunacy? How many more people now want retribution on the USA?
You're over play that part, I agree generally with what you are saying(although the million estimate is on the higher end, its not without sources) but America had NOT bankrupted itself, it just needs to cut spending, a lot.
But thats not all because of 9/11, we just did balance the budget well overall, both on spending at home and spending internationally.
Actually he was just on O'Reilly claiming that statement was taken out of context, and stating plain as day that KSM was waterboarded by the CIA.
Just give a link, please. That way we all have access to the same info, and we can all talk about it equally
Right now, no one can argue with you because they only have your short hand story, where you narrow it down only to support your point, thats not wrong, its just not a useful starting point.

Hey,
I do alot of work in After Effects and when searching "After Effects" in Finder I noticed an application called "mocha for After Effects". Their site said they were something about motion graphics, but I didn't buy or download it. Can I have some clarification on what it is and how I have it? I'm a pretty tech-savvy producer, just look at my sig, but I am at a loss.

That was the date I joined over 3 years ago now. An interesting point is that my 3 years is marked by the same day that Steve will keynote at MWSF, kinda eerie.
Whats a little sad is that there are only 15 people with join dates before me that are still active posters.
Cheers and were all looking forward to 5 years at Macrumors:)

I'm getting more and more curious how iOS 5 will turn out. I dunno if these enhancements will make it in time for summer, but I'm imagining centralized voice control for doing everyday tasks, a la Siri.
"Is it going to rain tonight?"
"How is traffic? Find another route"
"Book me a table for 2 at 7 tonight"
"What movies are showing tonight?"
These sorts of things should be accessible, and actionable, from the Voice Control interface. Apple did just add 20 new spoken languages to OS X  Perhaps it will be accessible as an API to third party developers. This would really change the way I use my phone, especially while on the road.

And you seem to only believe that there is only one company can provide Apple it's components?
There are loads of them.
And look at what Apple are doing with screens - they are sourcing parts from multiple companies to make the numbers. Which is exactly how Samsung will be taken apart if needs be.
However, that won't happen anytime soon as Samsung are in cast iron contracts to supply. Samsung defaults, and it will be in a world of financial hurt, far more than pesky patent rows. It will be up against a multi billion dollar default that will make BPs payout in the Gulf look like small change.
Oh again you have no idea how things work in that area.
Even with Samsung in a contract Samsung can still "delay" shipments and if Apple ever needs a rush order... Well opps that not going to happen.
When you piss off supplier or force them to do things it is when shipments become late, delayed and they are not willing to do anything that helps you out.
From working in an industry that used supplier and contract I saw and learned what can and does happen first hand when you piss off your suppliers and the worse part is they can all do it with in the bounds of the contract.
Samsung for example is going to be given so many days late on a shipment before punishment. They also will have a claus in there that accounts for some act of god happening and not getting punished, Japan earthquake for example has given them a pretty wide latituid to be a little late on shipments and receive zero financial punishment.
Breaking the contract would more than likely only be a few million in punishment fees.
Also as it has been pointed out before no one else can really pick up the slack. The entire market for those chips there has been a shortage for years. No one has covered that slack they are struggling across all company involved in production to keep up with the demand from multiple suppliers. Apple is less than 5% of the total market in what is bought up there. When you only are a buyer for less than 5% of the market that is in short supply you have zero control and does not mean someone else can even pick up the slack.

Anyone with page orientation with MacWorld Website? Continuous screen rotation would cause my iPhone 4 to 'lock-up' and it would force quit several times. This problem occurs in two iPhone 4s and iPod Touch Gen 4. Only happens with MacWorld website.
Is it because of phone iOS bug or a badly written site?

I've been getting "Call Failed" on about 25% of my phone call attempts since 4.3.1. It's really, really annoying.
I know several people that have upgraded and suddenly have lots of dropped calls and failed call attempts.

several things must be addressed by Apple in the current model:
...
Apple's results seem to imply that you could, conceivably, be wrong.
