That dewing would mean the phone be top heavy and be more pruned to falling the hand.

When holding our phones, a lot of times, the top half hangs over. With thinner bottom, we could easily drop.

    That's my opinion.

Apple will make new iPods but only with limited new features (maybe a true video iPod, maybe nintendo games) but when the zoon is realeased Apple will realese the MP3 player to end all MP3 players. It will be announced the day be fore the zoon is out then be realese a week later and it bwill have EVERYTHING that we want-- and more. Cell phone thouch screen/ non-touch, pda, widescreen, an IDE for developers. EVERYTHING. And that is that.

And what is up with the name? "Zune" sounds like microsoft tried to access their inner teen (oh wait, all these poeple never had childhoods) Sounds like microseoft tried to make a 'hip' name. and just like the XBOX put a random letter in front of something everybody already knows (but yet another hitch in the plan what the hell is a "une")

I noticed it right away mate, and I thought I was being a little pernickety until I noticed more people cropping up in threads here and especially on the Apple discussion forums.

If Apple had added features to iOS 4 over the 4.1-4.3 updates which would explain degraded performance, then fair enough, but Home Sharing and Personal Hotspot are the biggest new feature in the iOS 4 updates, and I don't honestly don't think for one second anyone is stupid enough to believe either impact the way the iPhone UI animates.

Anyway, I've restored to 4.3.2 via iTunes and while the stock apps run perfectly, the real test is when the device has a load on it, so I'm going to install some third party apps and see how things go.

Here's an advance hint ... it'll be the exact same as 4.3.2.

Good I'm not alone mate, I notice while the device is hooked to AC power you generally get better performance although games still result in 'pops'.

It seems to develop a few hours after you've setup apps. etc how you like, but just after a restore you'd forgive them for fixing it.

It's that fit and finish that I hate my device loosing for no good reason. They did add a new animation element when opening and closing apps in that the background now fades black, I'm guessing it's that addition that's causing these problems.

LOL... my friend, lets look at this logically....

100% of our income tax pays the interest on our national debt.

This is absurdly false. In the debt service was approximately $400 billion. In that year personal income taxes amounted to $1044 billion dollars. Corporate taxes amounted to $354 billion dollars, and other taxes (which includes social security) amounted to $1009 billion dollars. The total tax receipts by the Federal government was over $2.3 TRILLION dollars.

The assets OWNED by the United States (it's citizens and the government), excluding those owned by foreign investors, were $62.5 trillion dollars in 2005.

So the total national debt is less than 4% of the net worth of the cournty.

PS: For what it is worth, a measure of a healthy business is a debt to worth ration of 2 to 1. In other words, if the US were a business, it would be doing uncommonly well. Apple would be doing even better!

Is it even known yet exactly how this will work? The fact that Apple needed to make agreements with all of the labels makes this service look a little suspect to me. For example, would I be allowed to store my music that was ripped from a CD under a different label (one which Apple doesn't have an agreement?)

THIS is what my biggest worry with the new service is. I bought CDs since the day they were available and I collected many hundreds of them over the years. I legally digitized them all and store them on my harddrive. Those I would like to store in the cloud in addition the to the ones I purchased through iTunes.

To be honest, I've had more application crashes and restarts on OSX than I have under XP/Windows in the past 3 years. So much for "crash resistant" - and yes, I've had 4 kernel panics since I got this iMac home; that's more than the number of BSODs I've had under XP in 4 years.

Which means -- as everyone is saying -- that there is something wrong with your computer. I have a MacBook, two Intel iMacs, and a Mac Pro in my house, and they do not crash despite heavy daily use. My poor Mac Pro is running three different operating systems right now using Parallels, with nary a complaint. If you are getting unexplained kernel panics on a clean install of Mac OS X, then you have a hardware problem.

Hardware problems can affect any OS -- I've seen Windows systems that get daily BSODs. It's not because "Windows sucks", it's because there was a sub-par memory chip or somesuch in the system. Likewise Mac OS X crashes, when nobody else is experiencing a problem, are not an indication of the stability of the OS but rather of your hardware.

You're quoting me back to me when all of us (including me) were talking about that other guy that is having hardware problems because his Parallels "sucks." Parallels kicks ass on my C2D 20" iMac - hence the reason I piped up to be the first to say something is wrong with the other guy's machine if he can't get it working right.

On mine, which is stock hardware except for the 2GB of RAM I have in it, Parallels starts up in 4 seconds, boots my XP VM in 9-10, shuts down in 3-4, restarts the same VM in under 5 seconds (have yet to figure that one out, probably because of caching someplace; I don't even see the XP splash screen when it reboots/restarts because it's so fast), suspends in 22-25 seconds, resumes in 30-34, and I have no issues with any hardware at all in my XP VM. I even burn CDs and DVDs from the XP VM over FireWire/USB without hassles (Plextor FireWire/USB external).

So, on a similarly configured piece of hardware, if he's having suspend/resume times that seem to be 4-6x longer than others then, as you said, there is something wrong with the hardware. If none of the rest of us are having said issues, your line of logic would follow and apply to his machine since he's the only one reporting such ridiculously long suspend/resume times among other things.

Parallels works for me. Since I can't post specific benchmark data for Parallels and that other new-on-the-scene virtualization software for Macs <hint, hint> I'll just say this:

I completed the testing I said I was going to do, and Parallels simply lays the smackdown across that other software. And yes I'm well aware that other software is in beta - or pre-beta late alpha as one person put it - and that's fine. But I paid for Parallels, and to use that most famous line about Macs:

    It just works.

Oh yeah, it beats that other software even with multi-core CPU support enabled. Go figure.

    bb

Parallels sucks but until now its been the only REAL game in town.

Ah... the clarion call of lamers. Might as well bash Windows since it's so pervasive while you're at it. And it's still no excuse for stealing the software and breaking the faith. Bleh...

Yes and it states "a touch screen display" "For multifunctional handheld devices".

"The method includes sensing an object spaced away and in close proximity to the electronic device. The method also includes performing an action in the electronic device when an object is sensed." Meaning when I'm close to touching the darn thing do/show this when this is happening on screen.

    Did you read it?
    http://www.macsimumnews.com/index.php/archive/part_1_apple_files_proximity_detector_in_handheld_device_patent_application/

    EDIT: Still not "touchless" either....
"For example, when using a touch sensing device along with a proximity detection system, advanced gestures may be performed that combine proximity gestures along with touch gestures."

UW, sounds like reflecting the fingers to the screen ...

against other manufacturer's offerings both spec and pricewise?

    ### Alienware is still significantly better in terms of performance specs. For $2700, you can build an Alienware with RAID HDs, etc. Biggest question for me is...is Apple still underclocking the GPU on the 15" model...??? To me, Apple's MBPs aren't as good as a value as their Mac Pro, but with this update, Apple's "in the ballpark"...and I would get the MBP over the Alienware...assuming Autodesk releases a UB of Maya soon. My two cents...

    I don't see why not.

He was supposedly thrown overboard at sea.

The portion of the image containing the person's forehead is of a much higher quality than the rest of the image that is obviously the rest of Bin Laden's face. They come from two very different pictures. It's fake, no doubt about it.

yeah for real. but that iMac sure does seem nice

Someone claim the got 43 mins frame time on the biadv with a core i860 and Linux, same CPU as the higher end iMac. That is the same as my 3Ghz 8 core Mac Pro. You think it is possible?

VMWare is going to smoke Parallels when it comes out. I cant wait. I'm still a little bit miffed though that no one has gotten native partition support so we can use the same partition while virtualizing or dual booting.

That native partion support to use virtualization or dual booting would be awesome, having the best of both worlds (Boot Camp & Virtualization). I look forward to it!

As a Mac fan-boy I'd love to think Apple actually picked up sustainable market share, but as an actual technology product manager who does forecasts for a living, I've got to look askew at the data:

    * Mac market share was DOWN the previous quarter

    * The attributed cause of the share drop the previous quarter was the transition to Intel

    * Therefore the previous quarter share drop represented pent-up demand that would rematerialize once the Intel transition stabilized

    * Therefore one would expect a corresponding one-time blip UP in the corresponding quarter to resolve the pent-up demand

    * And low and behold, the marketshare "increase" just about corresponds to the resolution of the previous quarter's pent-up demand.

In other words, to keep the same long-term share, the current quarter's share would have to temporarily rise to make-up for last quarter's drop.

Sorry, amigos, I'll wait to see next quarter's data before I pop the cork...

Wait, I thought the show was cancelled, then it wasn't, then it is, so what is actually going on?

The show hasn't been officially cancelled. Before today, they shut down production for the last 8 episodes for this season. Today, they fired Sheen and said they are unsure if the show will go on. Knowing Hollywood, they'll go on with a replacement. Oddly, Sheen replaced Michael J. Fox on his show when Fox quit and it went on for another 2 or 3 seasons.

Your sarcasm is inappropriate. This poster has a right to her/his opinion. There are plenty of folks that think that kids are a bad idea, especially in their case. I'm proud of the fact I don't have kids: I'd beat them just like Joan Crawford did in Mommy Dearest.

Thats probably because the new MBPs completely obliterate the MBA in terms of specs. Run a photoshop render, any render you like, on both machines, you'll see a HUGE difference. The are quiet up till around 70c, which only happens when gaming or doing anything CPU intensive, the same as the MBA.

Oh really? Man, I didnt know.
You are comparing a 2011 chip vs few years ago. Also, from your signature, you are comparing a 15 inch laptop with a 13 ULTRAPORTABLE.
Furthermore, this thread is talking about the GPU sacrifice for the CPU gain... We arent talking about how the CPU in the MBA is better or worse, of course Sandy Bridge will blow the C2D out of the water.
The difference is not in the processors, unless you are doing something such as handbrake, but instead, for the average user, is the GPU, SSD, and software.

I bought an iMac April 16. If apple releases a new model May 3rd, will they pity recent buyers and allow exchange/return for the new iMac????

You have until the 30th to return it with the 14 day return policy so I would return it now and just buy the new one when it comes out

it reminds me of the month June, but with a Z instead. no way is M$ going to come up with a product that even remotely rivals the iPod.
